To reduce dust concentration, 80 hectares of industrial areas are sown with rye at Central GOK

Central GOK continues to use green technologies to reduce the man-induced impact on the environment. The company sowed 80 hectares of winter rye in dry plots of tailings facilities. Metinvest allocated more than UAH 4 million for the environmental project.

To improve germinating ability of plants, the company's ecologists used mineral  ammonium nitrate phosphate and nitrate fertilizers. As of today, 80% of cereals have already taken root. Plants will soon form a powerful root system and shoots that will entrap the dust and reduce the dust concentration by more than 230 tons per year.

"Central GOK systematically implements green technologies, which significantly reduce the impact of the plant on the environment. We have been sowing winter rye at the plant for more than five years. This is a good practice that gives a good effect - the plants form a protective barrier and do not allow dust to spread on the beaches of our tailings facilities," - Natalia Biloziorova, head of the environmental protection department of Central GOK, said.

Let us recall that planting of winter crops, landscaping of the territory of the plant and adjacent urban settlements is one of the priorities of the Central GOK's environmental program. Over the last three years, the plant has planted more than 3 thousand trees and shrubs.
