Dear friends,
For three years now, Ukraine has been living through a full-scale war. A war that, for every Ukrainian, in reality, began 11 years ago. A war that has hardened each of us.
During this time, Metinvest, like everyone else, has lost a great deal. Donetsk, Mariupol, Avdiivka — and now Pokrovsk is under threat. The shutdown of enterprises in these cities has been a blow to not only the Group, but also the entire Ukrainian economy. We have stopped operations and lost colleagues and friends.
Despite everything, however, we have survived.
This has come at the cost of extraordinary efforts. Over the past few years, thousands of our employees across Ukraine and abroad have demonstrated courage, bravery and dedication. Whether in Ukraine’s defence forces or at the workplace, metallurgists and miners are giving their all for our shared goal: victory.
Being in this mode constantly, without knowing when the war will end, can lead to despair. To folding one's arms, giving up and demanding “peace on any terms”.
But this is not what Metinvest is about, or we are about.
Because every day we are inspired.
We are inspired when communicating with friends in Ukraine’s armed forces. We are inspired when seeing our steel products for the army in action: hideouts, trawls, screens for vehicles, bulletproof vests. We are inspired when seeing how our enterprises enable our hometowns, the steel industry and Ukraine’s economy to live. Even during the war.
This motivates us to keep fighting. The outcome depends on the efforts of each of us, every day. We have already proved that Ukraine cannot be taken in three days or three years. We must put every effort into victory.
I can confidently say that Metinvest has been, is and will remain the country's pillar. We are here to live, to fight and to rebuild Ukraine once the long-awaited peace comes.
