Education, hands-on experience, and employment – Tetiana Petruk delivered the first lecture of the new academic year at Metinvest Polytechnic

Studying that leads directly into a profession. The new academic year has begun at Metinvest Polytechnic, opened by Tetiana Petruk, Chief Sustainability Officer of Metinvest Group She welcomed the students and emphasised: the university offers young people real opportunities – practical knowledge, employment during their studies, and the prospect of building a career in Ukraine.

Tetiana Petruk underscored that education today is the foundation for industrial development and the revival of Ukraine’s engineering elite. Metinvest Polytechnic Technical University offers students more than just theory. Academic knowledge here is combined with real-world production tasks. From their very first year, students can take part in internships, contribute to Metinvest Group’s industrial projects, receive scholarships, and secure their first job.

A key advantage of the university is its flexible learning format, which allows students to combine education with employment at industrial enterprises. This helps students gain experience faster and confidently launch their careers.

"No other university today offers as much hands-on skills training as Metinvest Polytechnic. We run the "First Job" programme, offering students and graduates career growth opportunities, official employment, and reserved positions for those who wish to build their future in the mining and steel-making industry," said Tetiana PETRUK, Chief Sustainability Officer of Metinvest Group.

This year, the university introduced a new level of training – junior professional bachelor – enabling students to quickly acquire a vocational qualification and later continue their studies at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. A dedicated focus of both the university and the company is supporting veterans: they are offered simplified admission procedures, along with opportunities for retraining, adaptation, and future employment. This is one of Metinvest’s priorities for the coming years, as the social reintegration of the military returning from the front line is a vital part of the country’s recovery.

Metinvest Polytechnic is integrated into the business and opens up broad prospects for its students: Internships in Ukraine and abroad – including at Danieli Academy in Italy and Austria, and Promet Steel in Bulgaria – participation in international projects, and career advancement within major industrial enterprises. As a result, graduates gain a competitive edge and become sought-after professionals.

"We envision our students contributing across various divisions of the company, playing a role in the revival and development of industry, and participating in reconstruction projects across the country. This is more than just education – it is a direct path into the profession from day one, opening doors to career growth, personal development, and a confident future," concluded Tetiana PETRUK.

Today, Metinvest Group stands as the largest private investor in education in Ukraine. For the company, this is not merely about training future professionals – it is also about supporting local communities, boosting employment, and fostering sustainable regional development. Education is becoming a tool for generational integration and community renewal, while the company’s strategy offers a compelling example of how the private sector can drive the modernization of the national educational landscape.

In this context, Metinvest Polytechnic is emerging as a key hub for engineering education in Ukraine. The integration of science, education and business is shaping a new standard of learning, while opening broad horizons for students to realise their professional potential.
