Metinvest To Invest UAH70 Million in Social Infrastructure Development in Kamianske in 2025

Metinvest Group and Kamianske City Council signed a memorandum of cooperation in the area of socio-economic development. The Group will invest UAH70 million this year in projects that are important to the community.

In particular, the funds will go towards the reconstruction of hospitals No. 9 and No. 7, the emergency hospital and primary medical-sanitary care centre No. 3. In addition, the community will receive five new trams that will revitalise the fleet and make traveling around the city more comfortable.

Oleksandr MYRONENKO, Chief Operating Officer of Metinvest Group, said: “Metinvest, as part of Rinat Akhmetov’s Steel Front, is focused on helping our indomitable soldiers. At the same time, the Group continues to care for the peaceful residents of the cities where our enterprises operate. We’ve already turned continuing cooperation with the mayor of Kamianske into a fine tradition, as evidenced by the number of initiatives that have been successfully implemented. This year, we are broadening the horizons of our cooperation by launching even more joint projects aimed at developing urban infrastructure, supporting social programmes and improving the community’s quality of life.”

Following the signing of the agreement, representatives of the Group and city authorities opened the renovated third floor of Outpatient Clinic No. 7. They also inspected the progress of renovation works at Hospital No. 9, where the operating unit and laboratory are being modernised, and the building’s façade is being insulated.

Oleksandr TRETYAKOV, Chief Executive Officer of Kamet Steel, stated: “The steel family of Kamet Steel will always help Kamianske, as our enterprise and the city are bound by decades of fruitful cooperation. This is our history, our present and our shared future. The city sets the goals, and we help to achieve them with a sense of pride and responsibility. We see how each step we take together makes Kamianske better, more comfortable and safer. We believe that the joint efforts of business and the local government are key to the sustainable development and prosperity of Kamianske, especially in these difficult times.”

Andrii BILOUSOV, mayor of Kamianske, emphasised the importance of such cooperation between business and local authorities during wartime.

He noted: “I would like to thank Metinvest for their support of the city during such a difficult time for the entire country. Supporting such projects under the current circumstances is a testament to the business’s social responsibility towards the community and its confidence  in the city’s successful future.”

As background, Metinvest invested UAH50 million last year in the modernisation of medical infrastructure in Kamianske. The funds were allocated for the overhaul of the gynaecology and trauma departments at City Hospital No. 9, as well as for the laboratory and intensive care unit at the emergency hospital. This year, civil defence facilities at these institutions will be renovated, and a new shelter, complying with modern standards, will be constructed at Lyceum No. 22.

Kamet Steel remains the main source of revenue for the city budget. In 2024, the plant increased its tax payments to budgets of all levels by 30% year-on-year, to UAH2.8 billion. This helps to maintain the stable operation of public utilities, hospitals and social programmes.
