Metinvest organizes recreation in Western Ukraine for children of employees from Pokrovsk

Metinvest Group has once again contributed to the health improvement of the younger generation in the Donetsk region. As part of the "Saving Lives" humanitarian initiative and with the support of partners, 23 children of employees of Metinvest Pokrovskcoal had the opportunity to recreate in western Ukraine.

Children in Donetsk region need stress relief and positive emotions more than ever. Being at peace, forgetting about the war for a while, relaxing, getting positive emotions, and making new friends are of particular importance in these difficult times.

"Metinvest has been implementing the project of a children's tour to the western part of the country for the second year in a row," says Artem SHAPOVAL, Head of Social Infrastructure and Administrative Support Department at Metinvest Pokrovskcoal. The main target audience is children of our mobilized employees, veterans who have returned from the war, and servicemen who, unfortunately, died. The children's health tour included psychological training, entertainment, various sightseeing tours, and recreation.

The children returned from their holiday cheerful and happy. The environment of an extremely beautiful land, clean air, and interesting program allowed them to have a good rest before the start of the new school year.

A team of teachers and counselors was carefully selected to ensure a good time, and they prepared a rich program of entertainment, masterclasses, and competitions. The children swam in the pool and learned hiking skills. A wide range of outdoor activities was organised, including trainings, art therapy sessions, theatre performances, cultural trips, and activities to strengthen teamwork skills and integrate into the community. The children were accompanied by psychologists throughout the whole recreation period. It should be noted that a specially designed psychological rehabilitation program for young residents of Donetsk region became one of the main points of recreation and was aimed at restoring the children's condition after the stress of war.

Diana SUBBOTINA:

"This is the second recreational trip my brother Artem and I have taken with Metinvest. This time, we went knowing that we would definitely get a lot of pleasant impressions, make new friends, and just have a good time. And it all worked out that way. We really enjoyed the entertainment and cultural events. We visited many local attractions. We have particularly great impressions and memories of the hike in the forest.

Sashko KOVALENKO:

"Traveling is always about discovering something new not only in the world but also in yourself. I had a really great time, learned a lot about the culture of the western part of our country, and most importantly, I made a lot of new friends. I have almost none of them at home, because many of them left with their parents to safer regions. Now we will keep in touch. I hope that next summer we will have the opportunity to meet each other again during a new trip.

Dmytro SOKOLOV, father of two:

"We are very glad that we had the opportunity to send our children on an interesting trip. It was the first time that my son Damir and daughter Alina went on holiday on their own, although they had been traveling to different parts of the country, including Zakarpattia, before. The skills they learned during hiking trips came in handy during their holiday at the recreation complex.

We are grateful to Metinvest for organizing a wonderful holiday for our children. The children came home with pleasant impressions, relieved and happy.
