Near Irpin, the construction of Ukraine's first residential house printed using the country's first construction 3D printer by 3D UTU has been completed. This house now serves as the new home for the Berezovy family, who lost their home and father due to the war. The project was realized thanks to the "United for Help" initiative by the Hold the Nation Foundation. Metinvest Group contributed to the project by providing over 20 tons of steel products free of charge from Metinvest-SMC’s distribution warehouses, which formed the core structure of the house including its base, walls, and ceiling.
In 2022, the Berezov family suffered a double tragedy – Yaroslav Berezov, the head of the family, was killed in the battles near Bakhmut, and their house was destroyed by Russian forces during the occupation of Irpin.
“The new house for the Berezov family was built on the site of the one destroyed by the enemy. It’s more than just a building. It’s a symbol of hope for a new life, which this family truly deserves. It’s also very symbolic that just two weeks before the house was completed, a happy event took place in their family – a new little Ukrainian was born!” shares Inna FURMAN, the CEO of 3D UTU and the head of the Hold the Nation Foundation.
The 130 m² house was printed in 58 machine hours using 72 tons of special fast-setting cement and sand mix.
"At Metinvest, we have a strong connection with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We produce equipment for the front, build fortifications. More than 8,000 of our workers are in the army. So, when we were asked to supply metal for a 3D-printed house for the family of a fallen soldier, we didn’t hesitate and provided all the materials free of charge. For us, this is just a test project in the construction of the future, in new formats that I am sure will be widespread throughout Ukraine alongside steel construction. We are ready to supply steel for Ukraine's restoration in the volumes our country will need," notes Oleh DAVYDENKO, Director of Corporate Communications Department at Metinvest Group.
The house layout meets all necessary housing regulations and incorporates modern ideas of comfort and coziness. A spacious living room, three bedrooms, a kitchen-studio, and several utility rooms are fully equipped with all necessary communications and are ready for the family to move in.
"In total, thousands of private houses in Irpin have been damaged or destroyed. Today, Irpin is a leader in reconstruction in Ukraine. And this house is a vivid example of how technology can help rebuild our communities destroyed by war. We are proud that Irpin has become the first city in Ukraine where a residential house was printed using 3D-printing technology. I’m sure that Yaroslav can now rest in piece, knowing his girls have a home. Together we built a house, together we restore Ukraine, together we defeat the enemy," says Oleksandr MARKUSHYN, the mayor of Irpin.
In total, more than 100 partners were involved in the project.
